High Efficiency Top Loaders:
There are tons of “high efficiency” top load washers popping up all over the industry now. There is a very big difference though, between a washer with no agitator and a washer with a short agitator.
In choosing one of these machines be sure that you do not choose one that simply uses a plate to move the clothes through the water. Certain advancements in technology over the years has led to very gentle but thorough top loaders that use very little water and energy with very large capacities. Some of these machines used centrifugal force to clean with. By far the best example of this system is the GE reliability model.
This washer has the look of a traditional washer, but uses an infusor rather than an agitation device. The purpose of an infusor is to use motion of the fabrics with opposite directional motion of the water to force the cleaning solution through the fabrics of the clothes to remove dirt and soil.
This wash action is extremely effective for even a large amount of clothes with a minimal amount of water consumption. The GE reliability model comes with a 10 yr warranty on the DC motor. Because it utilizes a DC motor there is no need for a transmission aor gearing mechanism, which has always been the weakest link of traditional top loaders.
One of the quietest operating levels in the industry is another advantage of this washer. You barely know its running…but rest assured your clothing will be cleaner than you could ever imagine.
Most “high efficiency” top load sets are priced in the $2000 range, but the reliability model is priced in most eligible retail stores at around $1500.
Don’t be fooled by imitations though…if its not a reliability model it lacks some of the key components that make this model unique and best in class!
